The Safari

Africa is known for it’s beautiful, exotic animals and Alpenglow has added a safari extension to our Kilimanjaro climb to make sure you not only challenge yourself on the mountain, but also fully experience the culture and wildlife on Tanzania. We will show you the Africa you have always dreamt about under the skill and experience of native Tanzanian safari guides.

After descending Kilimanjaro’s Marangu Route, we will bid our Tanzanian mountain staff goodbye and meet our safari guides and Landcruisers. Safaris in East Africa are unparalleled for seeing big game and huge herds and for us, it is the perfect way to pamper ourselves after the Kilimanjaro trek. We spend three full days exploring Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara, which are Tanzania’s most famous game parks. Nights are spent in luxury eco-lodges inside the parks, while during the day our local guides will help us find and better understand the incredible wealth of big game. We will see huge herds of zebra and wildebeests and get to see more solitary animals like giraffes and cheetahs. Three day of safari guarantees that you will see most or all of the “big five” animals – lions, leopards, rhinocerous, cape buffalo and elephants.
